Fedora is a Linux Distribution that is directly sponsored by Red Hat. It was released in late 2003 when Red Hat Linux was dropped. Red Hat decided to offer Fedora as a replacement solution for home users. Fedora is known as an all-purpose OS, which features only open source and free software. New versions are typically released once every 6 months.

Fedora dedicated servers only come with a handful of packages, which are considered to be the essentials.
